Painting allows me the freedom to create in my quiet space, while photography allows me to create out in the world..

Painters try to achieve happiness through perfection, which is impossible to realize, and that is why I keep going back to my studio and squeezing my paints.

Surprise is one of the most satisfying aspects of the creative endeavor. No matter how completely imagined or planned, painting allows the artist to experience the shock of the new.

In painting I wish express the essence and heightened emotion of a past experience or remembered fleeting moment. Using paint and mixed media the end result can be compared to listening to music, whether classical or jazz....a deeply felt moment. Intuition and spontaneity are my tools as I experiment with endless variations of line, form, color and texture as I strive to capture the inner landscape that resonates within me.

I have been exhibiting since 1987 here and abroad. At first my art was abstract painting, then collage, then free-form which evolved to today’s 3-D paintings. In 1991/92 I received a Painting Fellowship from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts (NJSCA); and in 1993 an Outstanding Achievement Award at the Fellowship Recipients Exhibition. I have been a member of the Painting Affiliates for over 10 years. I am associated with the Walter Wickiser Gallery in NYC.
I live and work in Englewood Cliffs.

My paintings represent everyday life and thoughts I have about life.
Some of these thoughts run into fantasies and frustrations relating
to subjects in many of our lives.

The creative process for me is intuitive – starting with materials and/or marks that I make. I like putting things together – sometimes pieces that seem not to go together. Combining things with a former life with new materials is a wonderful challenge.
My work has been exhibited widely in galleries and universities throughout the United States and also has been shown in Europe, Mexico, South Africa, Israel and New Zealand and am one of 40 artists featured in the book Masters: Collage, Major Works by Leading Artists published by Lark Books.

Each form needs to have a space divulging aspect.
A tilt in space helps define the space.
